Waterford based Lorenzo Tonti is an Italian-Swiss visual designer who moved to Ireland 30 years ago to work at Kilkenny Design Workshops, having studied visual communication at the University for Applied Arts—ECAL in Lausanne. Since then he worked for various design studios in Switzerland and Ireland, and now directs his own design studio based in the South East of Ireland since 1992. The studio’s work is mainly branding related for SMEs, cultural institutions, and variety of other businesses both in Ireland and internationally. Charities have also been part of the client list.
Additionally Lorenzo lecturers in visual communication on the design course at Waterford Institute of Technology, where he has been programme leader for three years tasked with the redesign of the course structure. He also introduced a very successful series of internship awards for design students at WIT.
Lorenzo is a founding member of fuse:d, a designers and business network based in Waterford. He was recently made a Fellow of the Institute of Designers in Ireland, and is the chairperson of the Regional Committee for the IDI tasked with the expansion and development of IDI activities in the regions outside of Dublin. Lorenzo is also on the IDI Executive Council.
